I’ve had several questions about dress code. Dress codes are tricky things, as everyone has a different idea about what is appropriate or not. The list below provides our general guidelines.
Many of you have expressed an interest in uniforms. While we are not requiring uniforms this year, we will have PCC gear available to order from Your Name On This soon!
Standard Dress Guidelines:
Students should have a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance.
Boy’s hair is to be neatly trimmed and may not extend below the collar.
All students must keep their hair out of their faces.
Fohawks, Mohawks, Dreadlocks, Rattails, and other extreme haircuts are prohibited.
Clothing should not be ripped, torn or have obvious holes.
Tattoos are not acceptable.
Unnatural hair coloring or excessive spiking (i.e. punk) is not acceptable.
Hair extensions must reasonably match the student’s current, natural hair color.
Only girls may wear pierced jewelry. This is limited to three earrings. Bars or chains are not allowed.
Clothing should be as well fitted as reasonably possible (no skin-tight or see-through items may be worn).
Only girls may wear skirts and dresses. These must fall to at least knee length.
Skorts and shorts must also fall to at least knee length.
Midriffs, tube tops, halter tops, spaghetti straps, net tops, plunging necklines or other tops that may reveal abdomen or excessively reveal the chest or underarm area are not to be worn (tank tops or spaghetti straps are permitted if they have a shirt underneath or a covering over the top of the shirt).
Pants for both genders are to fit snugly around the waist. “Bag and sag” or “low-riders” are not acceptable.
Underwear or undergarments are not to be visible on either the upper or lower parts of the body.
Spandex and similar clothing must not be worn unless covered by clothing that meets the above criteria.
Makeup that is of unnatural colorization is not allowed.
Excessive jewelry such as dog collars or wallet chains are not allowed for safety reasons.
Head gear of any kind is not to be worn inside the building.
Any clothing or item brought to school (e.g. shirts, coats, jewelry, buckles, head gear of any kind, sweaters or sweatshirts, back packs, lunch boxes, gym bags, etc.) may not have any insignias, patterns, graphics, writing or messages that are obscene, of a sexual nature (no sexual innuendos) or related to drugs, alcohol, tobacco, any illegal substance, any illegal activity, secular music, or non-Christian religions.
Dress at extracurricular activities must be in keeping with the activity.
Any attire, grooming habit or possession that disrupts the educational atmosphere will not be permitted.
Miscellaneous:
We ask parents to adhere to these standards when attending school functions or outings.
Periodically students may participate in PCC designated “special day” activities that allow them to wear something unusual—note that modesty standards still apply for these events as well.
