Do not worry

Dear Pinions Family:

Two weeks in already!  It's been very fast on our end and we've already faced our share of challenges but the Lord is faithful, and we are celebrating to be serving at Pinions!

First, some business:

  1. Save the date! Sunday, October 6th we are going to thank Grace Baptist church for hosting Pinions Christian Charter! It would be awesome if our families could attend and they could see some of the students their facility and love is serving. Service starts at 10:30.

  2. If you have education records at another institution, you should request those records to keep on file for yourselves.

  3. Lastly, some of you have asked what we need for support. We will need some basic cleaning supplies and paper products within a few months. Prayer for protection, the enemy is roaring!

Second, the future:

As I watch the political storm around us, I am reminded of Jesus' words in Matthew 6. He reminds everyone that the basics in life are to be worked for but not worried about. Then He closes with this statement: "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided to you. “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

We can apply that same thought to our concerns about politics. When we feel overwhelmed by the fears of tomorrow, I am encouraging us to build His Kingdom. For us, the primary Kingdom build is our children and our students.  Are we equipping them to be honest?  Are we equipping them to be unafraid?  Are we equipping them to work hard? Are we intentionally planning on how to equip them to know God's commands?

I don't know about you, but I have never thought about applying the strategy Jesus is commanding here. He is literally saying, "Worried about life? Then seek the Kingdom." That means to arrange our lives around submitting to the commands of God. To figure out how to be more forgiving. To commit effort to becoming less angry. To be men and women of God who lead our children to lives of contentment while working hard to make our lives better.

That is the strategy Jesus is giving us to lose our worry.

With this in mind, what is the future for us?  A future of fear or a future where we come together to focus on training the next generation to be men and women who are patient, who are courageous, who are kind, who will stand for righteousness?

This is our challenge: the next time fear or anxiety about tomorrow grips us, we will intentionally seek a way to improve our mindset or our children's mindset.  We will read or listen to a book about that weak spot. We will intentionally spend time and resources on whatever area God wants us to improve. We will work hard to build His Kingdom in our children.

This is how we build a future where our worries are overcome by the Kingdom of God.

I love you all! It's a good day to serve the King!

Jason
